Skills Clinics
Build confidence on the bike, gain confidence in life.
Joyride MTB skills clinics are designed to help you become a better mountain biker, no matter what your current level and experience.
Why take a clinic with Joyride? I know how intimidating some of these skills can be. I know how to break it down into bite size pieces and get you comfortable in the air on the trail. I have been there and back again and love passing on all the helpful information along with solid bike handling techniques to conquer the advanced terrain.
For 2025, I’m offering 4 clinic topics: Basic Fundamentals, Cornering, and Jumps/Drops and Technical Riding/Steeps. Each clinic’s layout is described below. No matter which you choose, we’ll discuss areas of focus, your goals, and your current comfort level to come up with a personalized plan and session. I am offering both 2 and 3 hour sessions. If you really want to get in-depth on a subject a 3 hour session will have the time. If your schedule is tight but you want the coaching time a 2 hour session will still cover the material.
You’ll also have access to my Juliana rental bikes, Joplin, Roubion and the Strega. These range from XC at 120mm of travel all the way to 150 all mountain to 170mm enduro bike. Rental fees apply – depending on session length
My skills clinics are private, or semi-private if you choose to bring friends along. The maximum group size is 4 people. If you would like more information, reach out and give me a call.
Clinics will normally meet at at Trailside Park in Park City. I’ll keep you informed of any venue changes.

BASIC FUNDAMENTALS
This is a 2 or 3hour clinic to help you develop the skills you’ll use every time you get on a bike. A 2-hour session will give you the basics of fundamentals, a 3 hour session we will have time to hone the skills.
We’ll cover bike and suspension setup, vision, shifting/braking, balance/body position. Advanced skills are built on these and the foundation skills are critical to success. I can’t emphasize how important these skills are to advancing your mountain biking prowess and being comfortable on technical terrain. I can show you how to hone these skills with laser focus on the trail for better riding techniques.
CORNERING
This 2 or 3 hour focuses on cornering and switchbacks. We’ll work on vision, body position, bike-body separation, and how to navigate uphill and downhill switchbacks, as well as flat corners.
Cornering is the most complicated bike skill as it incorporates all the aspects of mountain biking. I definitely recommend a Basic Fundamental course to get the foundation skills solid first. This course can be lengthened depending on your desires.
JUMPS/DROPS
This 2-hour is for either jumping or drops.
Get comfortable in the air and touching back down, and do it in a SAFE space. We will review body position, balance, approaches, and landings.
Jumping and drops are advanced skills and require a solid foundation. If you feel you need foundational skills first we can lengthen the clinic to do fundamentals prior. So a three or four hour clinic would be required.
TECHNICAL RIDING/STEEPS
This 2-hour is for working session is perfect for honing your slow speed skills
Steep technical riding takes a little different approach, but working on body positioning and vision it can be easily conquered
Getting comfortable with braking and vision in a technical setting can be fun!
FRONT WHEEL LIFTS – MANUALS/WHEELIES
Getting the front wheel up is a great skill for trail obstacles and desert riding! If you are struggling to do manuals or wheelies, let’s spend a couple of hours going over the techniques so you can use them on the trail.
There’s no secret to getting that front wheel up, just some change to body position and pedal movement. I can having you doing wheelies and manuals in no time. I find this skill super useful in the desert, but it’s also handy for curbs!
